Colleen Whitt has been part of the Canyon Lake community since 2015, when she and her husband Vern made the move from Corona. She continued her career as a dental hygiene associate professor at Loma Linda School of Dentistry until retiring in December 2017, bringing the same precision and professionalism to her work that she now brings to everything she does.
She is a proud mom of three and Nonna to seven grandchildren, a role she embraces with enthusiasm. When she is not keeping the Choraleers organized as board secretary, she is likely cooking and entertaining, out on the lake boating or kayaking, swimming, traveling or attending Bible study at Canyon Lake Community Church, or joining friends for water aerobics at the community pool.
Colleen is also married to Vern, the trombone player who founded SoZo Jazz more than 20 years ago, so music has long been part of her world.
Her path to the Choraleers is proof that anyone can join. She first attended rehearsal simply to bring her granddaughters, then decided to step in and give it a try herself.
Aside from singing in the church choir during high school and college, she had no formal choral experience. What she discovered is that all it takes is a willingness to learn and a love of singing.
She signed up for the Choraleers, and the rest is history!
